Aggie’s is a charity that supports Royal Navy and armed forces personnel and their families.

The Challenge

Aggie Weston’s commissioned us to create a flagship film marking the charity’s 150th anniversary. However, they were keen to avoid a traditional anniversary piece focused solely on history.

Instead, they wanted to use the milestone as an opportunity to tell a bigger story: who Aggie Weston’s is today, who it supports, and why its work remains as important now as it was when the charity was founded.

Our Approach

Working from real-life testimonials, we developed a narrative-led film that combined authentic human stories with the charity’s rich history. Professional actors were used to portray real experiences, allowing the film to communicate genuine impact while protecting the identities of those involved.

Alongside these stories, we created a bespoke animated timeline using archival photographs and film material dating back more than a century, helping connect the charity’s past with its present-day mission.

Production

The project involved four shoot days, filming on an active Royal Navy base, casting and directing five actors, researching hundreds of archive images, and commissioning an original score for piano, trumpet and brass ensemble, recorded by twelve musicians.

The Result

The finished film celebrates 150 years of Aggie Weston’s while remaining firmly focused on the people the charity serves today. The result is an emotive, cinematic and engaging piece that communicates the charity’s heritage, purpose and impact without ever feeling like a traditional corporate or anniversary film.
