Scottish octogenarian Mavis Paterson, aka ‘Granny Mave’, has raised over half a million pounds for charity through the cycling challenges that she sets herself as a way of coping with the grief of losing all three of her children in the space of four years.

Now, at the age of 86, she attempts to reclaim the Guinness World Record as the oldest person to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
